Transition Process

  • The timeline for transferring a real estate license varies between Missouri and Illinois, though both systems are designed to minimize downtime for active professionals. In Missouri, once the Real Estate Commission receives a properly completed application, the new license is typically mailed to the brokerage within 2 to 3 days. In Illinois, the process can be significantly faster for active transitions; a sponsoring broker can issue a 45-day sponsor card that serves as a temporary permit to practice real estate immediately, while the official wall license and pocket card are processed by the Department.
